Born and raised in Canada, Abi has lived in many places. From the west coast of British Columbia in Prince Rupert and Vancouver, to the prairies in Edmonton (Alberta) and then to the east in Toronto (Ontario) and Montréal (Québec). She currently lives in the United Kingdom and is based in Cardiff, Wales.
After attending Victoria School of the Arts (Edmonton, Alberta) she pursued her love of physical theatre and attended Humber College’s Theatre Performance Program (Toronto, Ontario). During her time in Toronto, Abi worked with Clay and Paper Theatre on various puppetry creations including The Echoes Project and The Third Eye Project. Combining her love of performance creation and multi-disciplinary storytelling, puppetry provides Abi the platform to collaborate, design, devise, make, and perform.
With an ever growing appetite for learning, Abi moved to Montréal (Tiohtià:ke) in 2018 to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Intermedia CyberArts (IMCA). Her focus was performance and video installation art. In the spring of 2021, she graduated from Concordia University (Montréal, Quebec).
Most recently, Abi completed her Master of Arts in Design for Performance (Puppetry Pathway) at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. Her thesis explored how puppetry can develop empathy for the Planet and she continues to apply this methodology in her creative practice.
